On the verso of each map, a text exposes the knowledge of the represented region. It is a huge success despite its high price (it is reputed to be the most expensive book of its century). Edition: Frankfurt am Main, by Levinus Hulsius, 1604, 17th century.

He later served under Alfonso VI, King of Portugal. First published in 1683 in Paris with French text, a second, German, edition was published in Frankfurt in 1684, with the addition of German titles to the plates outside the printed border.

The view depicts the religious celebration of Easter, based on the caption. We can clearly see Saint Basil’s Cathedral on the left, t he Kremlin wall in the center, t he Spasskaya Tower. The scene shows Moscow residents (nobility, clergy, soldiers, and common people) forming large circular lines.
