Would be fab framed up. Great and unique Christmas gift idea? Map shows the area of PELAW and the CWS Pelaw Works and railway station. HISTORY Pelaw came into being when the Cooperative Wholesale Society (C.W.S) established factories here in the late 1890s. Built on former agricultural land located between Heworth village and Bill Quay, the works grew to become one of the CWS’ major industrial complexes in Britain. The factory made furniture and during WWII made shirts for the army. Very good condition. See photos. Measures 57cm. 49.4cm. Will be posted rolled up. Came from my dad who obtained lots of these from a school geography resource cupboard.

CWS Fresh Rolls Margarine wooden box plate with red markings

Historic food industry artefact. CWS Fresh Rolls Margarine wooden box plate with red capital text. Taken from a wooden box. Approx. 23x17cm, 1cm thick. I’m unsure of the exact year it was created but it is at least 30 years old. Good for original unique interiors. It still has two nails. CWS is Co-operative Wholesale Society. Its margarine factory was created in 1940 in Irlam near Manchester and closed in 1980’s.
